Design Thinking Workshop: Thinking Innovatively to Solve Real Customer Pain Points

As someone who majored in Management and graduated with a bachelor's degree in Commerce, I never really put this to good use because right after college I tried to climb the corporate ladder in the BPO industry then shifted careers to medical transcription, which I've been doing so for the past decade and a half already. I never really thought of myself as an entrepreneur even though we had a small business called SALA Lounge + Cafe and I think it was only when I opened up the shop for Savon Ormocana that I really applied the things I learned about managing a business.

As Darwin clearly stated, "It is not the strongest of the species that survives, not the most intelligent that survives. It is the one that is most adaptable to change.” I believe in the saying about the only constant thing in this life is change. So, let's adapt, right?

Enter the Globe myBusiness Academy Masterclass. When I got an email invite from Globe myBusiness Academy that they're having a workshop for Design Thinking, I was really curious about it considering the whole pandemic and how we could move on with our lives in the new normal setting.

I usually ignore any emails like this but I'm so glad I grabbed the chance to join it. It was FREE by the way and I got so many knowledge bombs and take-aways. I learned what Design Thinking is, how Design Thinking can help you find your customers' pain points, and the ways Design Thinking can help you address those pain points. Imagine that?! I feel that these are the things I'd never learn from school. Our mentors were really great at explaining things which made them very relatable. I mean, you don't need a college degree to understand the theories and it's the real-world examples that really made the whole thing interesting.

Furthermore, I got tips on how to experiment with the ideas we came up with during the first session, how to develop a prototype, how to conduct market research, which revenue model to use for your product, and finally pitched a presentation to the panel to discuss the viability of your prototype. Yes, on the final day, we had to pitch an idea and I had to present it on behalf of our group. It's been so long since I've done something like this and it was nerve-wracking! I had my Seo Dal Mi moment right then and there. It felt like being on Start-Up! But my group members were very supportive and we collaborated on the activity, so I think it went okay. For me, the feedback we got from Sir Aaron Palileo was not critical at all but very constructive.

Oh, and they gave away GCASH prizes for the activities and it was a super fun learning experience. I made new friends, too, and getting a certificate was a huge bonus as well! So, ladies and gents, when you have an opportunity like this presented to you, GRAB IT! It's always great to learn something new.

Big thanks to Globe for this wonderful event! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
