An Easy-to-Understand Guide to pH and Your Health [What is Alkalete?]

Living a healthy life isn't just about eating right and working out - it's also about balancing your body's pH! Now, if you're scratching your head wondering, "What's pH?", don't worry, I'll try to break it down for you! I know this... because I do make artisan soaps!

Anyway, simply put, pH is a fancy term that stands for "potential of hydrogen". It's all about how many hydrogen atoms are in a solution. Now, why do we care about this? Because it tells us whether something is acidic (like lemon juice), basic (or alkaline, like soap), or neutral (like water). And this scale goes from 0 to 14.

The magic number in the middle - 7 - that's neutral. If it's above 7, it's alkaline or basic, and if it's below 7, it's acidic.

You might guess that super acidic stuff isn't too good for us - after all, battery acid is highly acidic, and that's definitely not good! How do I know this? Come on, I'm a 90s kid! I licked batteries for fun! LOL! Anyways, did you know that super basic things can be harmful, too? For example, the liquid you use to unclog drains is very alkaline, and you wouldn't want that on your skin, let alone in your body. So, safe to say, we want to stay near the neutral zone.

Our blood naturally likes to be slightly alkaline, hanging around the pH level of 7.35 to 7.45. No matter what we eat or drink, our bodies work hard to keep our blood pH in this range. However, the rest of our body's pH can swing a little bit more based on our lifestyle choices, like what we eat, how stressed we are, or how much we move around.

Simple Tips to Keep Your Body's pH Balanced

Keeping a healthy pH balance in our bodies is all about our daily choices. Here are some easy steps to get you started:

  • Eat a well-rounded diet: Fresh fruits, veggies, whole grains, lean meats, and healthy fats are great for maintaining a good pH balance.

  • Skip processed foods and sugars: Foods that are heavily processed or high in sugar can increase the acidity in your body and throw off your pH balance.

  • Drink lots of water: Staying hydrated helps get rid of toxins in your body and keep your pH levels in check.

  • Cut back on alcohol and caffeine: Both of these can make your body more acidic, so drinking less can help keep your pH balanced. I do love a good cup of coffee... (I mean, real coffee and not that cheap kind!) but I don't drink as much as I used to anymore.

  • Stay active: Regular exercise helps balance pH levels by improving circulation and getting rid of toxins. Psst... the R2 walking pad is my new best friend! We spend 1 to 2 hours together... every day!

  • Keep stress in check: Stress can make your body more acidic, so relaxation techniques like yoga or meditation can help keep your pH balanced. I have my Young Living essential oils for this, too. I just can't be without them.

  • Think about alkaline supplements: If your lifestyle makes keeping a balanced pH difficult, consider Alkalete.

So, what is this Alkalete?

Alkalete is a supplement that contains calcium, potassium, and magnesium salts. These nutrients can help reduce excess acidity from our diets. Released slowly through a special patented system, these nutrients are more available for your body to use. It's a great tool to support a healthy body pH and boost your overall health!
